About Me

I was born in Santa Cruz County and attended high school in Monterey. I graduated from UC Berkeley with a degree in Molecular and Cell Biology and a minor in Business. After college, I worked as a research assistant in a biotechnology laboratory performing gene sequencing using mass spectrometry. This scientific background has helped me better understand and evaluate the evidence in DUI cases.

I earned my law degree from Santa Clara University School of Law. After graduating in 2008 and passing the California Bar Exam, I began my career as a public defender in Inyo County. I later served as a public defender in Tulare County before returning home to Santa Cruz, where I worked as a Deputy Public Defender from 2013 through 2017. In 2017, I opened my own practice, focusing on DUI Defense in Santa Cruz County.

Over the course of my career, I have handled thousands of criminal cases ranging from misdemeanors to serious felonies. I have successfully litigated Fourth Amendment and other constitutional issues, won DMV hearings, negotiated favorable case resolutions, and obtained not guilty verdicts at trial.

I completed the National Criminal Defense College’s intensive two-week Trial Practice Institute, one of the country’s premier trial advocacy programs for criminal defense attorneys. I have also been invited to present continuing legal education (MCLE) programs on DUI law for attorneys through the Santa Cruz County Bar Association and to provide DUI training to attorneys at the Santa Cruz County Public Defender’s Office.

I’m a member of the California DUI Lawyers Association and the California Attorneys for Criminal Justice. From 2020 through 2024, I also served on the Board of Directors of the Santa Cruz County Bar Association.

I’m proud to be a Santa Cruz County native and to have served my community in the legal profession since 2008.
